From A30 take A386 towards Tavistock. At Lydford, turn right signposted Lydford and Brentor. Go through Lydford and past both entrances to NT property, Lydford Gorge. After 2 miles turn next left after the sign for Burnville Farm, approximately 200 metres. 1/4 mile at next signpost turn left, into Burn Lane. Thorn Cottage 2nd house down lane on right hand side. Park in layby next to cottage. The Smithy is a further 40m down the lane.
